I just finished Km 1650, "Night Vision". Have any of you felt like this driving through New Brunswick at night?

I just finished "Night Vision" today. Have you ever felt this way while driving through New Brunswick at night?
It's amazing how easy it is to get up on a Saturday morning, knowing you're heading into the studio to finish up a painting you enjoy! For years, my husband and I travelled Highway #20 in Quebec in a van filled with three children, a black lab (that hogged the seats) and all sorts of paraphernalia for five weeks at my parents cottage. This section of highway, as it runs along the St. Lawrence River, with the flat farmland and spaced out barns was always my favourite. This particular image caught my eye, not only because of the colours, but because of the sad decrease in trains travelling through Cape Breton. I missed them. Now, that I live in Saskatchewan, I am like a little child when I see a train..... just ask my sister!Visit our new Facebook page at facebook.com/transcan150xtwo
Alison has posted her new painting, "Km 2100, CN Train". Take a look!
Carol has been named as a Finalist in the 2016 The Artist's Magazine annual competition! Look for her listing in the Jan-Feb 2017 issue.

Together with lifelong friend and fellow artist Alison Grapes, the Trans Canada X Two Project has begun. Over the course of the 150th year of Canada's Confederation, we're traveling along the Trans Canada Highway from coast to coast, stopping every 150 km and finding the subject and inspiration for a series of 50 paintings each of the great country that we call home. Some images are of the road itself, some are of the countryside and life along the road, and some have not yet been imagined. Join us in our journey through this blog, and join us at the series of exhibitions planned for the finished artworks during 2017, 2018, and 2019. As art teachers, we plan to give back to programs that help develop young people's passion for the visual arts through donation of a portion of sales at our opening exhibition around Canada Day, July 1 2017.
Come back often for an update on the project. And let us know what you think. |
