Saturday afternoon saw the opening reception at the Colouratura Gallery in Indian Brook, Cape Breton. We had a good turnout on a stunningly beautiful day. The show looks good, too! Thanks to Penny Steele and the crew at Colouratura for putting on the home-made goodies and for hosting us. If you couldn't make the opening, the show will be up until Monday 7 August. Nova Scotia is gorgeous, as always. It was foggy and drizzly in the morning as we entered the province, but the skies cleared as we drove north to Cape Breton. The afternoon was spent happily with Penny at the Colouratura Gallery hanging the show and catching up on events over the last few years. By evening we were ready for some relaxation with the horses at Carol's sister's farm outside Sydney and a well-appreciated glass of wine.
If you're in the area, you're invited to the opening at Colouratura from 2-4pm in Indian Brook, at the base of the Cabot Trail.
Tomorrow we hit the road again, heading east this time, to St. John's, Newfoundland. The first stop will be Km 1800, near Perth-Andover, New Brunswick. We'll have to move fast, as we have to get to Cape Breton on Friday to set up for Saturday's opening reception and exhibition at the Colouratura Gallery in Indian Brook. If you're in the area, please stop by and say hello. We'd love to meet you.
Also on the schedule is an interview with Steve Sutherland of CBC Cape Breton. Keep your ears open!
about the already completed work. What did that phrase mean for my paintings? After an hour of lying in bed thinking about it (and I may already have been asleep for a bit) I jumped out and got into my studio where I worked until far past my bedtime! Two paintings have been changed and I like the direction they have gone in. They are not done, but I am happy with the direction they have taken and I can say they are not, "stuck on a background like a postage stamp." I needed that input and will use it as a guiding question. I expect the look of my work is about to change! I am excited. ~ Alison
